he United Nations designated World Habitat Day to be observed on the first Monday of October every year. It was first celebrated in 1986 with the theme “Shelter is my right”. This day serves as a global platform to contemplate the state of our habitats and emphasize the fundamental right of every individual to have access to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.
