International Mountain Day- 11 Dec 2022- Poster

International mountain day was first celebrated in the year 2003 on December 11 to create awareness about the importance of mountains.

It is celebrated to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development, and to build alliances that will bring positive change to mountain and environment around the world.

This year’s theme is “Women move mountains” as women in general play a key role in mountains’ environmental protection, and social and economic development. They are often the primary managers of mountain resources, guardians of biodiversity, keepers of traditional knowledge, custodians of local culture, and experts in traditional medicine.

International Mountain Day 2022 is an opportunity to promote gender equality and therefore contribute to improving social justice, livelihoods and resilience.
